Indiana Gold Star Families Memorial Monument

Coming in 2019 to

760 N. Pennsylvania, Indianapolis, IN  46204

Artist rendering

The purpose of the Indiana Gold Star Families Memorial Monument is to honor Gold Star Families, preserve the memory of the fallen, and stand as a stark reminder that Freedom is not free. The memorial will represent Hoosiers who died in service to our country from all war periods and any future Hoosiers who may give their life.

A Gold Star Family member can be any relative: mother, father, stepmother, stepfather, adoptive or foster parents, wife, husband, child, stepchild, adopted child, brothers, sisters, half brothers or sisters, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces or nephews who have sacrificed a Loved One for our Freedom including survivors who have lost a loved one from the symptoms, illness  and suicide due to  their military service.

This stunning black granite monument features two sides. One side bears the words:

Gold Star Families Memorial Monument,

a tribute to those who made

the ultimate sacrifice

and those they left behind.

The other side tells a story through the four granite panels: Homeland, Family, Patriot, and Sacrifice. The scenes on each panel are a reflection of each community’s Gold Star Families and their fallen Heroes. At the center of this tribute is the most distinct feature of the monument, the cut out which represents the Loved One who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the name of Freedom.
